Here is our church bulletin for this week.
Thanks, Brenda! Good to have you back.
Please note revisions in preaching schedule …
I have revised my preaching schedule since we will be having no services at the church on Sunday September 1. We will be attending the community service at Colchester.
Also, Kerry and I plan to take a week at the end of September to recharge our batteries, and we will not be here on September 29.
Be an “International Neighbor” …
Broaden your horizon; give an international student a great cultural experience.
Kerry and I are becoming International Neighbors to two Western Illinois students. This is a very low-key opportunity to share our lives and our culture with a young person from across the globe. Below is more information. Give me a call also if you would like.
Dave
- International Neighbors program matches first semester international students up with individuals and families in the area for purposes of cross-cultural exchange. This program allows the students to teach community members more about their country and culture, but it also allows the new students to learn about U.S. culture while giving them meaningful contact with community members. International Neighbor assignments are expected to last one semester and Neighbors are expected to participate in at least one activity a month with their student. If you are interested in participating in the International Neighbor’s program, please fill out the application below.

HANDOUTS/WORKSHEETS for August 18, 2013
This week we are in chapter three of Ephesians. Paul begins to pray, interrupts himself for several verses then finishes his prayer. In his long parenthesis Paul assures the Ephesian believers that he is more than qualified to pray for them.
Message Title: Paul Is Ready to Pray, Are We Ready to be Prayed For?
Message Text: Ephesians 3:1-21
Study sheets/handouts for 081113
Here are the handouts for August 11, 2013.
Message Title: We Were Far Off but Now We Are Near
Message Text: Ephesians 2:11-22
- PDF we were far off but now are near 081113 HANDOUT ONE
- PDF we were far off but now are near 081113 HANDOUT TWO
Picture with me a big “NOT” sign. I tried to illustrate in HANDOUT ONE that this is what the cross of Jesus Christ is like. When we believe in him for forgiveness of our sins and receive his gift of eternal life, then his cross is a big “NOT sign” for our past life. What was is no longer true. That (dead in our sins) was then and this (made alive in Christ) is now.
NOT WHO WE WERE: We are no longer who we were. We are new in Christ.
- We were … without Christ, aliens with no claim to citizenship in God’s kingdom, strangers to the promises of God, no hope and without God.
NOT! No longer true!
The Cross of Jesus Christ and our belief in him changes everything.
We once were far off but now have been brought near by the blood of Jesus Christ.
