HANDOUTS for Mothers Day / May 11, 2014

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY TO YOU!

man-with-mom-tattoo-FOR-WEB

Here are the handouts for Sunday.

Mothers, you want to feed your children good, wholesome food so they will be healthy, right?

Same thing with God’s word. Healthy (sound) doctrine means spiritually healthy children. This week we are going to look at maybe the best comfort food there is: contentment.

Basically, God says, “Live the life you have with honor in every respect and trust him to care for you.” This is sound doctrine. A good, healthy spiritual diet.

What happens when materialism chokes our perspective and “things” become too enticing? We have “a different doctrine” Paul says.

This different (unhealthy) doctrine creates a craving for controversy and quarrels about words, which produces:

  • envy
  • slander
  • dissension
  • evil suspicions
  • and constant friction

Yuk! Not very tasty for the children of God. What we need is a good dose of godliness and we’re going to the kitchen to see what’s cooking.

Bulletin and order of service insert for May 4, 2014

Hello Everyone,

Here is the bulletin for Sunday May 4, 2014.

Per my offer for suggestions as to message text or themes, we will be immersing ourselves in Isaiah 53 on Sunday. We will actually be looking at Isaiah 52:14-53:12 as another person asked if I would begin with the last two verses of Isaiah 52, so I did.

Sunday is communion so I thought Isaiah 53 would be very appropriate. The service is much different than normal as we will be reading Scripture and singing throughout, offering prayers of thanksgiving and proclamation, and Pastor Dave will weave his message throughout the entire service.

So we will have a very detailed order of service which I have included as an insert.

Here is my bulletin excerpt by way of explaining our service:

  • This morning our attention will be given to Isaiah 53. We will read this text together, and Pastor Dave will “preach” through the course of our readings and our hymns. So we have a very detailed order of service which is included with your bulletin as an insert. May we be blessed as we remember our Lord today in communion.

ORDER OF SERVICE INSERT:

HANDOUTS for Sunday April 27, 2014

Hello All,

My, oh, my, what a beautiful day in the neighborhood!

The Apostle Paul tells us this in 2 Corinthians 10:5 …

  • (2 Corinthians 10:5 ESV) We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ.

Have you ever noticed how eager we are to examine and judge the thoughts, religions and philosophies of other people? Likely yes.

But have you ever noticed how reluctant we are to examine our own thoughts? Likely no. And why would we, I mean, we have all the answers, right? We are Christians and go to Bible-toting churches, we know we are right.

Man Looking in Mirror “Hmm … Examine my thoughts? Novel idea.”

As Lee Corso would say on an ESPN broadcast, “Not so fast, my friend!”

Unless and until we are willing to bring our thoughts to obedience before Christ, how can we even think about insisting that other people do this? But we do. We believe what we believe and don’t tell me differently.

So then are we sharing our stuff and calling it God’s stuff, or are we actually sharing the truth of God?

girl looking in mirror“Know thyself. Really?”

Dear Radio Friend,                                    April 2014
We recently received this note, “My days would be EMPTY without Good News Radio. You all do a wonderful job. Thank You! My husband has a cancer I must deal with, and some days I am very depressed – with the times we live in, and life. But Good News Radio is the best anti-depression pill for me!” What an encouragement to learn how much listeners are blessed by and depend upon our programs. Your financial support helps keep our broadcasts on the air. Your gifts are making a difference!
Our Spring Sharathon is Wednesday and Thursday, May 7-8, and we invite you to participate.   The theme is “Giving Us Direction,” that is, the direction we receive from God’s Word which is faithfully and regularly broadcast through Bible teaching programs, music, and Christian talk on Good News Radio to help guide your day.
  • The theme verse for Sharathon is Psalm 119:105 “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path”.
Sharathon is an opportunity for you to respond and show your support for Good News Radio.  We are a non-profit, listener-supported radio ministry. Your partnership is needed during this Spring Sharathon to help us continue our broadcasting for the next six months. Our goal for Sharathon is $45,000 and we’re trusting God, through your gifts and faith promises, to meet this need.
We pray you will tell us of your support of our Spring Sharathon by returning the enclosed Faith Promise card or by calling in during the event. Such as, you can sponsor a full Day of Broadcasting for $250. ($42/mo.) Your gift of any size will be appreciated. Thank you for your continued partnership with this ministry!
During Sharathon we depend on volunteers to help answer phones, help with mailings, and other office related responsibilities. We also have a need for friends to bless the volunteers & staff by providing breakfast or lunch. If you can fill any of these needs, we would love to hear from you. If you would like to work a shift at Sharathon, please call Lois at 888-357-5639.
Thank You & God Bless!
