This Sunday we finish our study in Ephesians, and I have to say that God has amazed me through the entire process. Wow! has been my expression often as I have seen the glory of God in the salvation that he gives to us.

In him we have redemption through his (Christ’s) blood, the forgiveness of sins.

God has gone over-the-top in his generosity and precision and power in bringing eternal salvation to us his enemies. Wow!

• (Ephesians 6:10–13 NKJV) ¹⁰ Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. ¹¹ Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. ¹² For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. ¹³ Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Much of our unholy warfare is a result of fear and our lack of trust!
We don’t really believe that God will take care of us, so we have to do it ourselves. When we become frightened, we do not trust in God. We default to self-preservation mode. We defend ourselves and we fall prey to the scheme of the devil.

Too often we do not find our strength in God. When the battle presents itself, we resort to fighting like a mere human. And we inevitably lose whether we realize this or not.

Our adversary, the devil, is a powerful, super-natural being who is more familiar with the ways of Earth than any human. Effective and deadly in his schemes he is out to deceive the entire world. But, as mind-boggling as it may seem, we sometimes think that we are the exception and we don’t give proper attention to God’s instruction. And we fall. And the biggest irony is that this deceived person doesn’t know he has fallen because, well, he’s deceived.

Faith Fellowship Church Announcements for November 3, 2013

• Choir practice Saturday November 9.
• Board minutes and financial reports in classroom off entrance.
• On November 24 we will have a Praise & Thanksgiving time during the evening service. This will be followed by dessert.
• Christmas Caroling on Sunday December 15, 2013 @ 3:30 pm.
• No Wednesday evening services on Christmas Day (12/25/13) and New Year’s Day (01/01/14).
• November 2: Please join Birthright of Macomb at The Old Dairy on Saturday, November 2, 2013, from 11 am to 1 pm for coffee, brownies and milk.
• November 6: Birthright of Macomb Open House from 4-6 pm at their office in the Immanuel Lutheran Student Center at 303 N Clay Street.

HANDOUTS/WORKSHEETS FOR Ephesians 6:5-9

How time flies when we are having fun. Only three messages left in our Ephesians study. Tomorrow is November and another year is coming to a close.

And Jesus Christ is still King of kings and Lord of lords. Amen!

Here is what has stood out to me the last few weeks: An overwhelming sense of the presence of God and a reverence that seems to fill me to overflowing as he gives his divine instruction to us through the pen of the Apostle Paul.

Like a mighty ocean is God’s righteousness when we bow before him in reverence. Changes our perspective on everything – personal relationships, job, community, the anguish and darkness of this world …

In Ephesians 1:1 Paul calls us God’s saints, holy ones, and now in Ephesians 6:6 we are the bondservants of Christ. What treasure and privilege as we discover who we are in Jesus Christ. Not puffing ourselves up in pride but falling down in amazement as God teaches us who we are – holy ones, sons and daughters chosen before the foundation of the world, redeemed by his blood …

This week – Bondservants of Christ! Wow! I love it. David, bondservant of Jesus Christ. What an honor. I praise you Mighty God.
