Lewis quote:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong style=\"color: #333333;\">I willingly believe that the damned are, in one sense, successful, rebels to the end; that the doors of hell are locked on the\u00a0<i>inside<\/i>.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Maybe the most horrifying aspect of God&#8217;s judgment is when, after all of our demands that God let us go to live our lives, he does just that.<\/p>\n<p><strong>And we are free to roam about the darkness.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Here is part of my text from last week&#8217;s message:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>(<span lang=\"en-US\">Romans 1:24, 26,28<\/span> ESV)<span lang=\"en-US\"><sup>24<\/sup> <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Therefore God gave them up in &#8230;<\/span>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\"><sup>26<\/sup> <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">For this reason God gave them up to &#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\"><sup>28<\/sup> <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to &#8230;\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>This week my wife pointed out a Scripture in Proverbs that came to her mind as she thought through these things.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>(<span lang=\"en-US\">Proverbs 1:24\u201333<\/span> ESV)<br \/>\n<span lang=\"en-US\"><sup>24<\/sup> <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Because I have called and you refused to listen, have stretched out my hand and no one has heeded, <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><sup>25<\/sup> <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">because you have ignored all my counsel and would have none of my reproof, <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><sup>26<\/sup> <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when terror strikes you, <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><sup>27<\/sup> <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">when terror strikes you like a storm and your calamity comes like a whirlwind, when distress and anguish come upon you. <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><sup>28<\/sup> <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Then they will call upon me, but I will not answer; they will seek me diligently but will not find me. <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><sup>29<\/sup> <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Because they hated knowledge and did not choose the fear of the <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Lord<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">, <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><sup>30<\/sup> <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">would have none of my counsel and despised all my reproof, <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><sup>31<\/sup> <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">therefore they shall eat the fruit of their way, and have their fill of their own devices. <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><sup>32<\/sup> <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">For the simple are killed by their turning away, and the complacency of fools destroys them; <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><sup>33<\/sup> <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">but whoever listens to me will dwell secure and will be at ease, without dread of disaster.\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Please note the progression. God extends his hand and is consistently rejected.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span lang=\"en-US\">I have called and you refused to listen,<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"en-US\">Have stretched out my hand and no one has heeded,\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"en-US\">You have ignored all my counsel and would have none of my reproof,<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Now, it is only you and the storm &#8230;\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nWhen the calamity, terror and storm come like a whirlwind, no God because you successfully rebelled and refused his love and grace. But there is the catch. We have such a limited view apart from the knowledge of God. So when reality explodes the myth of our lives, we are left without hope, without help, without God.<\/p>\n<p>Alone to face eternity and the terror that will come.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Or we can receive God&#8217;s gracious gift of eternal life and know we will be in his care forever, no matter the storm.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>About three posts back, I shared this C.S.
