Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s2\">(John 16:33 ESV) I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\"> <b>Reality check: In the world you will have tribulation.<\/b> But you already know that, don&#8217;t you? This world can be a troubling place: Agonizing, painful, heart-breaking, tragic and frightening. I am pretty sure that you agree with me that this world is a mess, and I am happy that we agree, so don\u2019t misunderstand \u2026 <b>but everybody sees that.<\/b> You don\u2019t even have to know God to know that this world is a mess. It\u2019s like the Geico commercial: \u201cEverybody knows that.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\"> As a truck driver I know would put it, \u201cThat ain\u2019t nothin!\u2019\u201d He was always one-upping the guys as they were story-telling on their CB radios. Someone would have a story, and he would chime in, \u201cThat ain\u2019t nothin!\u2019\u201d So it became kind of a catch phrase around the gravel pit and the quarry. \u201cThat ain\u2019t nothin!\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\"> So I\u2019m telling you \u2026 just because you can recognize that this world is a mess \u2026 \u201cThat ain\u2019t nothin!\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Do you want to know what is something? Hearing the voice of God <\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><b>in the word of God<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b> over the noise-makers of the world.<\/b> And what does our God tell us? <b>\u201cI have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation.\u201d<\/b> God is in touch with the reality of this sin-wrecked world. \u201c<b>I have said these things to you, that<\/b> in me you may have peace.\u201d His intent and purpose with these words is our peace. So let\u2019s get very pointed in this conversation. Do you believe him? Do you believe Christ as he speaks to you in the middle of your anxiety and fear that in him you may have peace? <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"> He continues: \u201cBut take heart; I have overcome the world.\u201d Christ will not<b> <\/b>only get us through the difficult times in our lives, but he gives us ultimate victory over the world.
